I'm not totally pleased with this pic, namely the anatomy, but I'm not totally disappointed either... The tree/branch thingie is coming off his chest btw. :P

I like it, coloring was really nice, and the face is good, but the anatomy in the hand is kinda strange (like you said). Overall, it has a great feel.
